Cardiff Man Rob Coaches Retail Businesses to Success

Cardiff-based Rob Lester has more than 7 years experience in people development at one of the UK’s largest supermarket chains – and now he’s sharing his expertise with other businesses and individuals in a brand new business venture of his own.

Rob’s coaching and operational skills are highly in demand as retailers are increasingly being challenged to meet ever-tighter targets on ever-smaller budgets, but Rob says coaching is about far more than just encouraging and motivating people to meet targets – it’s helping them grow as individuals too.

He explains:

“Making people feel bigger not smaller is my target, whether that’s 1 person, or 100!”
Having previously managed training for 75 stores across the whole of Wales, Rob is comfortable delivering operational & behavioural training via large workshops and conferences – and he will continue to offer this service to large retail clients. However, being self employed means he now has the freedom to work with smaller businesses and individuals, and that’s where he believes his business can make a real difference:

“More than most coaches, I specialise in teaching Emotional Intelligence, and how businesses and individuals can best utilise it at work to deliver fast results.”
Emotional intelligence coaching looks specifically at relationships in the workplace and how to get the best from them, including:

improving relationships between co-workers, leaders and staff;
examining the relationships between the organisation and its customers, stakeholders, suppliers, competitors, and anyone else who interacts with the business.
It is possible to faciliate real change by teaching managers best practice in leadership, communication, teamwork, management skills and partnership. Furthermore, by training staff in emotional intelligence, they often become more motivated, more aligned with business priorities and more efficient.

However, it isn’t only about business – teaching these skills on a one to one level helps individuals become more confident, more likeable, happier and as a result, are more likely to be rewarded/employed in their dream job. Rob says Emotional Intelligence is a game-changer and in his experience is the fastest way to deliver business improvements.
